About Patratu Valley

Patratu Valley is a scenic mountain pass in Ramgarh district, known for its hairpin bends and valley viewpoints. By our guide it is about 18 km from Aangan Resort, which makes it one of the easier half-day trips from Ormanjhi.

Best time to visit Patratu Valley

Most travel guides suggest the cooler months, from October to February, when the weather is pleasant for the drive and the viewpoints. The monsoon months, roughly August and September, turn the hills green and fill the lake and dam, but the ghat road can be slippery, so drive slowly and avoid it in heavy rain. Summers are hot, so if you visit then, go early in the morning. Early morning works in any season: the light is soft, the road is quieter, and you can be back at the resort for breakfast.

Planning the trip

Start in the morning so you have daylight for the viewpoints, and keep the afternoon for the return. Carry water and a light jacket in the cooler months. The road has sharp bends, so if you are driving yourself, take it slowly, and ask us about a cab through the travel desk if you would rather not.
