Ranchi Waterfall Circuit: How to Plan the Perfect Day Trip
By Swanya, Aangan Resort
Four major waterfalls ring Ranchi, and every visitor faces the same puzzle: which ones, in what order, and is one day enough? Here is the circuit, planned properly.
The Falls, Ranked for First-Timers
- Hundru (98 m) — the tallest and most dramatic; go first
- Jonha (43 m) — pairs with the Gautamdhara hermitage
- Dassam (44 m) — the ten-stream curtain; easiest access
- Sita — smallest and quietest; the connoisseur's pick
The One-Day Circuit (Ambitious)
Hundru at 8 AM → Jonha by 11 → lunch at Anovia, Aangan Resort → Dassam by 3 → home by dusk. Doable, but you will earn it.
The Two-Day Circuit (Recommended)
Day 1: Hundru + Jonha, evening bonfire at Aangan. Day 2: Dassam + Sita at a human pace, long lunch, optional Patratu sunset. This is the version guests thank us for.
Season and Safety
- Peak flow: July–October; best comfort: October–February
- Rocks are always slick — shoes with grip, always
- Swimming is prohibited at most falls; currents are deceptive
